Remote Educational Psychology Assessments for Families in the UAE

Psychological Assessments that meet children where they are

We offer clear, evidence-based psychological assessments delivered remotely, allowing children to engage in familiar environments where they feel safe, regulated and understood. Our approach combines clinical rigour with flexibility for families and schools. Every child is different, and remote assessments are not suitable in every situation. We support children attending British curriculum & international schools in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This short interactive guide helps parents and professionals think through whether a remote assessment may be appropriate.

Once you have tried the interactive guide. Feel free to contact us to talk through things further.

Dr Adrian Harrison

I am HCPC-registered and a Chartered Educational Psychologist with extensive experience supporting children, young people, families, and schools across the UAE and internationally.

I was first granted an Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) Permanent Psychologist licence in 2017 and have consistently met all professional, conduct, and CPD requirements, with my most recent renewal in 2025.

In my previous role, I was issued an Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) In-School Specialist designation therefore I am well-versed in the professional and conduct expectations, working in line with the standards set by the ADEK.

I work collaboratively with parents, carers and professionals, as  every assessment is tailored, ethical and carefully considered.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. We have over five years’ experience delivering psychological assessments remotely. This means we understand not only the assessment tools, but also how to create the right conditions for meaningful observation, engagement, and accurate interpretation in an online setting.

Remote assessment is not new to us — it is a well-established part of our practice.

  • Assessment is a joint process. We work collaboratively with parents and, where appropriate, with a school-based or home-based facilitator.

Parents are not expected to “step back” entirely — your insight and presence are often an important part of helping your child feel safe and understood.

  • The most effective sessions are those where preparation happens before the assessment begins.

    This may include:

    • Pre-assessment questions for parents

    • Social stories or explanations to help children understand what will happen

    • Short conversations in advance to reduce uncertainty

    • Clear guidance for adults supporting the child during the session

When everyone understands the purpose and structure, children are far more able to engage naturally.

  • No — remote assessment is not always appropriate. Take our remote assessment quiz to see if it could be a good fit for your child. You know your child best.

  • Absolutely. We have been using remote assessments for children and young people from 3 years old to 25 years old. It is very common for parents to feel uneasy or sceptical about remote assessments at first.

Interestingly, many children are more comfortable with technology than adults. Being in a familiar environment, using a screen they already know, often reduces anxiety and can allow children to show their strengths more naturally than in unfamiliar settings.

We take time to talk through any concerns and ensure families feel informed and supported throughout the process.
